Got it at the gun show

Sing along with me to the tune of the 5 dollar footlong Subway song....

    Forty.....
    Forty dollar.....
    Forty dollar throw down!!!

    Savage Model 1917. 32 auto.

Oh well, it seems mechanically sound, it's clean, oiled and rust free on the inside, good bore. Looks terrible. Should I have just kept my $40?

    Thumbs up

IMO it's well worth $40 if it functions. Give it a new finish with some Gun Kote. Heck, the magazine alone is worth $25-$30 bucks.

I would have bought it just because it's a pitted piece of history.

I always liked the little savage auto's, it's a shame they stopped making them IMO. For $40 I would of bought just to play with.

Indeed. There are also some marks on the back of the grip frame where it looks like it was used as a hammer

I would have bought it for $40, without hesitation. The gun has character and will make a excellent conversation piece.
