    How did I do?

In the local paper today. For sale M1 Garand, M1 carbine, ammo and clips.

Called the guy, he was local. Wanted 600 each. I asked him what kind of ammo came with the guns. He said 100 rounds 30 06. 2k rounds 30 cabine. 50 clips with the garand. I ask if there is a package deal for both. He says that is negotiable.

Turns out the Garand is beautiful! Springfield. Carbine is a Underwood. Has weaver sights on it. I paid 1k.

Sorry for no pics at the moment. But our computer is in the shop and I am using the childrens.

I got home, counted the 30 carbine rounds and there was only 1350. Kida shy of what he said. The garand is absolutely beutiful. The underwood carbine came with two 20 round mags and a ten round. The ammo is brass cased. I feel pretty good about the deal. But, that was before my son and I counted the ammo.

On a side note, small world. The seller is good freinds with the guy that owns the property next to our hunting camp. Don't want to trash the guy. But he told me two thousand rounds over the phone, and after counting. 700 rounds short.

I know. No pics. But the garand is VERY nice. Underwood carbine. Looks like the stock was refinished. There is some finish wear. I would rate this gun at 75-80%.

Somehow even being 700 or so rounds short, I think you did great!

Plus it was a face to face sale, so based on that:

    I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

    that's a good deal

$1200 for the pair alone would have been a deal , If you consider the price of 30 carbine ammo nowadays You made out big time.

You might call and say "hey you didn't by chance forget some of the carbine ammo, when we counted it it was 700rds short".... He might offer to look or make up the difference without really forcing the issue. I think you did really good regardless.

You did well. We'll have to go shooting again one of these days. IIRC you've got a couple of Garands already. Large Marge would like to meet your new ones, they might have passed each other in times past.

I took some pics. I'll upload them later. too nice of a day to be indoors!

I really like both rifles. I told my wife that the carbine might go to the auction block. Tough decision though!

$1000 is a great deal for those two rifles... alone. They are easily worth $1300 by themselves. The ammo, another $300 easy and then there's the mags and clips.

Did you do well? Does a bear shit in the woods?

Come on ... you know you did great! You averaged $500 / weapon and got nearly 1400 rounds of carbine plus 50 enblocks that usually sell for a buck each. Carbine ammo is very expensive, 40 cents at least per round.
