    Plum Crazy Polymer AR lowers

Anyone use one of these, they are polymer with polymer internals, I've seen them for $99 complete (with internals).

Sounds interesting, especially for a low cost SHTF Ultra Light AR build. I also saw a guy who used one of these in yellow to build a Dewalt AR, it was pretty cool.

I'm not nuts about ARs, but this might be a good start to the praire dog gun I'm going to have to buy. If anybody sees them for cheap post here please. I've seen them for $120 + shipping + transfer, and at that point they don't seem so cheap anymore considering I'd have to replace that lame 6 position stock.

I've never like the thought of a polymer reciever, but a complete lower for 100 bucks? That's a good deal. Combine it with a pencil thin barrel and it may be the ultimate lightweight.

Is there any steel in in at all? Or am I screwing my barrel nut to polymer as well?

Someone did a thread on these before with last few months. David Fortier in Shotgun News gave them very good ratings.

Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever."--Thomas Jefferson

The barrel nut attaches to the upper, not the lower...

    Here's a complete lower for $130... http://newfrontierarmory.com/catalog...roducts_id=312

We beat on one of those with a framing hammer one day to test for strength and couldn't crack it. I thought the ring on the back would break off, but after several full force hits it was still in perfect working order. They may not be pretty, but damn if they aren't light weight and really strong.

That was Coyote3. His lower was assembled using a CavArms lower, not Plum Crazy.

As far as Plum Crazy lowers, i've heard some pretty good things about them.

Oh. I thought you meant something like the Soviet plum colored furniture or someone painted a lower "Plum Crazy":

I think I might get one of these to make a featherweight carbine with a lightweight barrel! May get more than one to make a "trunk carbine!"

Well, the website is less than helpful (or above my comprehension level). Who has them and what kind of pricing?

    Again... http://newfrontierarmory.com/catalog...roducts_id=312

And from what I remember, this company uses a proprietary fire control group. It's polymer as well!

Whooopsie! I skimmed past the "technical discussion" regarding barrel screwing...

    Thanks!

Their fcg is indeed polymer, but it can also be replaced with regular and match grade AR triggers.

Looks like the collapsible stock is the only option. Figures that when I get out of the folder/collapsible stage, they're standard issue!
