Hamas fires rockets defending themselves from mean ciivilians and vicious reporters

JERUSALEM – Palestinian militants in Gaza fired more than 50 rockets into Israel on Saturday, the heaviest barrage in two years, Israeli officials said, while Hamas police beat up reporters and confiscated their equipment.

A Hamas official was killed and four civilians were wounded when Israel hit back with tank fire and air strikes, said Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Adham Abu Salmia.

The violence comes amid increasing calls for reconciliation between Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his bitter rivals, the Islamic militant group Hamas. Abbas is seeking U.N. recognition for a Palestinian state by the fall and is currently lobbying for votes worldwide. Hamas used force to disperse a reconciliation rally in Gaza. Some reporters were later beaten up, threatened and briefly detained.

Israeli police spokesman Tamir Avtabi said Gaza militants fired 54 mortar shells at Israeli border communities within 15 minutes. He said two Israeli civilians were lightly wounded by shrapnel and residents were advised to stay at home or in bomb shelters.

Hamas are idiots. U.N. recognition of a Palestinian state would be the first real step into forcing Isreal to grant them autonomy. But they screwed that up, and revealed their true ambitions.

They are not there to support Palestinians, they are not there to broker peace. They are only there to provoke continued fighting.Their effing charter supports genocide. They are haters and murderers by their very own mission statement.

Why several of our rabidly anti Islamic members suddenly jump on the bandwagon when "jew killing" is mentioned is beyond me. Though I do have my suspicions as to why those few act in such a way.

In some ways the Palestenian - Israeli situation was best under Arafat and Sharon. Both men were terrorists; both men understood neither could afford peace.

Sometimes I miss the clarity of that era.

Again, you fail to realize that some people don't give a flying leap about Palestine OR Israel. You could call these people "America Firsters".

Roger all I believe what I've recently said about Israel is they are our strongest allie in the region (which is true no matter how you slice it), although that shouldn't matter as we should cut off all foreign aid to them anyway and I've related a story about the Israelis saving my son and his flight when they had a fire on board. For that I've been called a Israeli firster and you've never once chimed in with the whole "If you're not one, you must be the other" crap... I'd say your bias is showing

I can see your statement as being true if it's warts has the opinion Israel is our enemy and he left it at that, but he's clearly linking the islamics in the area to Israel, labeling them better and we know what they've done to our troops in the area. IMO this makes him a Palestinian (islamic) firster if not worse. He's the one linking Israel to islamics in how they relate to the US..

These are the 2011 budget numbers for the US for foreign aid. I did not make them up, you can find your own sources and defend your 20 billion number.

Was "exactly" from another thread where I stated a range of $3.5 billion to perhaps as high as $20 billion. I certainly do not know the real numbers for any of the countries listed. I would have thought more for Afghanistan.

I don't care about the numbers, I do care about their endless campaign of terror in a war they know they cannot win. If they really cared about their people they wouldn't station their soldiers, mortars and rocket launchers in the middle of their population centers, hospitals and schools. If they were really at war and as brave as they claim they would target military installations and not random civilian targets. Give me one good reason why I should have the slightest bit of sympathy for Hamas and their single purpose, genocide of anybody not Muslim. A good reason, not some fantasy tale of Zionist imperialism. The Jews never told Hamas to kill their own people or to use them for shields to protect their murder crew.
