Just found these while researching .50 BMG uppers.

I had the misfortune of a .50 Cobb kaboom on me a few years back. Fortunately, I was prone and had goggles on. Unfortunately, my wife was watching when I stood up and she saw my bloody lip and the shrapnel in my face. All turned out OK, Thank God!! It appeared to be an OOB discharge.
Now, I have a bolt action Serbu .50, which seems just fine.
The blood on the ground is eye catching (or opening).

It is safe to say I won't be getting a .50 cal anything.
1) I really do not want to drive 4 hours to the lease to shoot it.
2) I would need a new reloading set up to handle the cartridge.
3) I just do not have the need for one.
Very interesting and shocking.
NRA, TSRA, GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA
BEING THE MODERATOR OF THE ROADHOUSE IS LIKE BEING THE JANITOR OF A PEEP SHOW.
That's the problem, there's no place to shoot them. Well, except Iraq and Afghanistan.
The .50bmg is literally just a hair shy of being a "cannon" instead of a heavy machine gun. There is a ridiculous amount of potential energy stored in those rounds. Cheap out on parts at your own peril.
This one kind of drives the point home IMO.
Damn. No gun is worth a pre-frontal lobotomy.
I've shot the Barret single shot bolt gun, the Sebu BFG50 and an Armalite 50. The Arma is very tame but then again it's a 35 pound weapon more or less. The Serbu is the lighets at about 27 lbs. They're all fun but the Armalite is the least punishing of the three as bolt guns.
I sold my Serbu just because I couldn't find a fucking range that would let me shoot it. So if I couldn't shoot it, might as well sell it and go buy some other things that go bang that I can was my attitude. I still kind of miss it. Nothing can stop a vehicle like a .50 cal round through the engine block.
the accident was attributed to bad ammunition. More specifically ammunition that was improperly sized and primed. It was a DTC rifle that used a Wildcat of the 50BMG to get around Calis stupid 50 BMG ban.
Not that it matters in this KB but why would a gun company use the name BOHICA (which in slang means Bend Over Here It Comes Again).
I saw that, too. Kind of a bad business slogan.
I used to have a Serbu... Seemed like a solid enough rifle, I was never afraid to shoot it... but the only thing that concerned me was that if it did go Ka-Boom, Mark Serbu's pockets weren't deep enough for a law suit...
Sold the Serbu to partially fund an NFA M16 purchase years ago... then recently acquired a Bushmaster BA-50 (Formerly Cobb Mfg.)... Had to sell the BA-50 to raise cash for some land/property I wanted to purchase adjacent to our National Forest.... I'm still hoping to purchase my 50 back again next year once my practice is paid off.
My point of this was... in a Ka-Boom and you lose your eye/limb/life... that company is liable (IF you're shooting good quality ammo and bubba's reloads).... proving/winning/losing in court is whole other argument... but point in case, I'd like a 50 made by a manufacturer that at least is backed by a good insurance company that can absorb the losses I would plan to sue them for. You can't squeeze blood out of turnip if there isn't any blood to begin with!
