I thought I remeber hering about a few mak 90s that came in semi auto but with the third hole.

This is correct, and when ATF found out about them they demanded they all be turned in.

There were some that came in with the third hole before atf stopped them. Story i heard; the norinco reps from china were also busted for bringing in a couple thousand full auto ak's to sell to some street gangs. That's why all gun imports from china were cut off.
