Now That GN is Back, Here is My New Barvarian Carbine

I got this a couple of months ago. It is a Bavarian M1 Carbine. It is a Bavarian because after we defeated the Germans, the US issued weapons, mostly M1 Carbines, 1911s and S&W .38 spls, to the German police. We did this because in the surrender agreement the Germans were not allowed to use their own weapons. When the weapons were issued they had to be stamped with the organization that the weapon was going to. For the M1 Carbines they were stamped on the reciever. Mine was issued to the Bavarian Rural Police, the equivalent of the county sheriff. After Germany was able to again aquire their own weapons, my rifle was sold to Austria. Austria also stamped the weapons on the trigger housing to deliniate the district (county) that the weapon was sent to. I tried to get good pictures of the markings, but it was not to be. You can tell they are there, but it is hard to make out what they say. It does look cool in person, though!

It's my bedside weapon of choice.
The 2nd Amendment : Washington didn't use his right to free speech to defeat the British, he shot them.

That's an early Plainfield, they're supposed to be the best of the post war carbines. Quality went down after Plainfield was purchased and manufacturing was moved to Arkansas.

Looks nice. I got an IBM last year. Thought it would be appropriate since I work with computers. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet.

I am having the same problem. Hopefully when my ship moves to where my family is I will be able to take it out.

Nice looking M1 carbine with a bit of history to boot.

I tend to be kinda partial to carbines myself.

Do all the Bavarian carbines come without a bayonet mount?
