Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket???

After today, it's all historical.
Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket???

Another article says it's in north India, could be you were just in the wrong region or it's not that common.

I suspect the uproar is more over the fact it exists at all rather than it's popularity or availability.
Personally I tend to avoid street vendors of food here in the US as well. Whether it be taco trucks or ice cream trucks or hotdog stands, I'll pass

I think nature evolved them that way so that they blend into each other while in a herd so that predators would have trouble singling out one in a field of high grass. That's why predators charge and have to quickly single out ONE when the herd scatters, but they have trouble making out where one ends and another begins when they're bunched together.
No idea what Krupski is gonna come up with, but I read a long time ago that a Zebra's coloration/markings were camo for grazing at night in the moonlight. Made them blend in with the grass at night.
ETA...a little G*"gle, and Tank Money called it.
I just came close to the lessor reason.

No enemy of America would have ever been killed if they didn't show up to be killed. HDR
During my teaching years, I showed a video of why zebras had a black/white striped pattern. To an animal that can't see colors (most predators are color blind; their eyes contain more rods than cones, for seeing movement) black and white are the brightest "colors" they can see. Everything else is some shade of grey. Black and white are similar to what we would call neon colors...very bright to their eyes.
The video showed a side-on view of a herd of zebras running and there was no way to tell where one animal started and the other ended....it was just a jumble of stripes. Since lions (their main predator) almost always attack the rump area first (to keep the hind legs from kicking them) they have to be able to see the rump on one particular animal. In a running herd, all zebras blend into each other. No lion would ever attack into a herd. It would be suicide.
Once a zebra strays from the herd, it's like a neon sign telling every lion in the area there's food here, come get me.
A zebra is "safe" only when it stays with the herd.
Tank_monkey was right with his assessment.
