I believe you can call their main # (202) 648-8500, tell them you applied for a license & ask for the inspector for your state. I would suggest not calling until at least a month has passed. While some have reported less than 2 weeks, I think 2 months is no uncommon. Any longer than that is getting close to unacceptable, IMO.
You can usually tell if they have started processing you if they have cashed your check.
You may also get some literature before your license is shipped out. You're dealing with a government agency, have patience.
I sent a Postal MO.
Patience? You're talking to the King of Patience. Last C&R license took 8-1/2 months.

I received my FFL 03 in August.
It was about a five month wait. Before I received my C&R license, I received a call from an ATF agent, whom I subsequently met at a local coffee shop. He made sure I knew a FFL03 is not an FFL01. I received my FFL03 a month later.
His next stop was to someone who applied for an explosives permit.
I did call after 3 months and was told that the permit investigation had been assigned to the local ATF office to investigate.
After my FFL03 was issued, I applied for the California Certificate of Eligibility. Now I can pickup a C&R handgun in CA and take it home same day.
