Just a for instance, one SAR-1 purchased when they were $300 delivered. Have fired well over 13,000 rounds through it.
The only gun I shoot a lot is a .45 Ruger Vaquero that I paid $440 for about 15 years ago. I shoot about 6000 rounds a year with this gun. Brass lasts forever, I buy primers in bulk, shoot cheap cast bullets, and have a lot of powder on hand. All I shoot is one load, i.e., a 255 grain RFN with 9 grains of Alliant Unique. So my estimate is I shoot about $500 dollars of ammo in this gun a year.
At today's prices it does not take long to shoot more in ammo than the purchase cost of the weapon.
I don't shoot nearly as much as I should.

Well you have to have somewhere to shoot and i had to drop my club membership.
I haven't fired a round in 3+ years. Saves on ammo and cleaning

It would take me 2 boxes of .380 to exceed the cost of the last gun I bought.
Damn Helen give him a break. You can spend 40 dollars on 2 boxes of .380.
