I have 12 boxes saved of the kitchen matches. My attempts to obtain more in Maryland and Virginia have been unsuccessful. Store personnel state it's a child safty hazzard so they don't sell them anymore.
They are not available in IL. If you can get them, try this...break off the heads, stuff into a tennis ball, wrap with duct tape, throw at object you want to blow up...
I havent seen them in a while.
Figures that its f*ing tweakers that are getting them pulled form the shelves.
Had to google it to find them. E-bay has them.

Same shit with Claritin-D. I have to show my driver's license and sign a sheet of paper to buy an OVER THE COUNTER decongestant because apparently one of the ingredients in it can be used to make crack or meth or some drug.
I'm treated like a criminal for buying allergy meds just because of tweakers!

Just got back from the grociery store. The local HEB had plenty on the shelves. Tossed a three pack into the basket - I needed a few more in my prep cabnite anyway.

Grocery stores in town carry Strike Anywhere matches.
I wax coated 300 matches (one box) just a couple of weeks ago. I store them in old medicine bottles. A bottle of matches in each vehicle, and a bottle in each winter coat, plus spare matches on the shelf. If I need them I will have them.
I have never seen these mis-used, or a fire hazard. It is not like they fire themselves up.
I cover at least half of the match. Just remember to scratch off the wax around the entire head before striking the match. Otherwise, it will die out.
If you store the matches in a very hot location, the wax may soften and all the matches will stick together. BTW, I use canning paraffin. One box is enough for an entire case of matches.
I just ordered 4 boxes of 300 (1200) kitchen strike anywhere matches off Ebay for $5.76+ shipping.
I already have 20 pks. of the smaller size.
Never hurts to have more.

I don't know if the stick will wick moisture to the match head or not, but I do know if the match head is not sealed with wax moisture will get to it quick.
Keeping the matches in small bottles further ensures moisture does not get to the match head.
Having matches that work when you need them means keeping moisture away from them. A small lesson in life that can really be important at some time.
Why not use an air tight container with a small bag of silica gel?
The silica will bring the relative humidity in the container below 40%.
Since the container won't be opened very often, the silica gel should be good for several openings, depending on the environment.

The whole match has to be sealed in wax or water will ruin it .
