In January 2021. the U.S. Centers for Disease Control imposed a nationwide travel mask mandate for persons using conveyances and in transportation hubs. Health Freedom Defense Fund (HFDF) filed a challenge to the mandate in a federal district court in Tampa, Florida.
In April 2022, the district court struck down the mask mandate on several grounds under the Administrative Procedure Act. Among those grounds was the conclusion that the CDC lacked the statutory authority to impose the mandate.
The CDC appealed that ruling but conspicuously declined to seek a stay of the district court’s order. Thus, the CDC tacitly conceded that the widely hated mask mandate was not, in fact, a matter of life or death. The CDC’s real aim in appealing the ruling is to secure for itself a broad authority to regulate public health under 42 U.S.C. Section 264(a) of the Public Health Service Act.

Patients deemed vaccine deficient in non-Covid related diseases get the designation Z28.39 (other under-immunization status).

An overactive immune response to the mRNA Covid vaccines may be the culprit in rare cases of heart inflammation seen in some young men after they receive the shot, a small study published Friday in the journal Science Immunology suggests.
The study was based on 23 patients ages 13 to 21 who developed myocarditis after their second dose of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine. An analysis of blood samples from nine of these patients — all of whom had gotten Pfizer — found elevated cytokine levels.

NIH renews grant to organization that funded coronavirus experiments in Wuhan
The organization confirmed that it had "revised" the aims of its experiments amid "ongoing concerns by removing all on-the-ground work in China and all recombinant virus culture or infection experiments."
The National Institutes of Health have renewed a grant to EcoHealth Alliance, an organization that funded experiments in Wuhan at a facility identified as the possible origin point of the COVID-19 pandemic.
EcoHealth announced the renewal on Monday, noting that the grant had been suspended in April of 2020 "due to concerns about continuing collaborative laboratory research with the Wuhan Institute of Virology." EcoHealth's experiments involved on-site work at the WIV and involved the study of coronaviruses.
